Hello,

I have received the below email from Paypal. Is there anything I have to do from my side to make sure it still works with EE4?

Good day,

As we have already informed you, PayPal updated the certificate for http://www.paypal.com to SHA-256. This endpoint is used for validating the immediate payment confirmation (IPN).

The upgrade is scheduled for 30.09.2015. However, it may be that we have to prefer the short term in order to meet applicable safety standards.

You are receiving this notification because you have used as a trader in the last year, the PayPal IPN. If you have not yet made the necessary changes, you should do so as soon as possible in order to avoid service disruptions.
We encourage you to consult your technical contact for PayPal integration. The relevant types of professionals can advise you whether you need to customize your integration. Please forward this e-mail and the following hyperlinks on to these people.

In the PayPal Sandbox, you can test if your integration works. The sandbox endpoints have been updated to accept secure connections via SHA-256 certificate.

The technical details can be found in our Guide to System Upgrade for traders. In addition, please visit our microsite amending SSL Certificates 2015-2016 a timetable for the planned upgrades.

Hi guys,

This should not affect EE itself, but it does depend on your server setup. You will want to check with your hosting provide to ensure they have correctly installed a VeriSign G5 Root Certificate.

Most of them will have already done this.

You can provide them with this link for further details:

https://devblog.paypal.com/paypal-ssl-certificate-changes/

PayPal Sandbox already uses this, so you can confirm if this works on your server setup by singing up with Sandbox, switching out your live credentials for sandbox credentials and enabling Debug mode.

Then run some test payments and see if it works as expected.

There was a typo in my previous reply (missing ‘not’)

“This should not affect EE itself…”

I have updated my post above.
