Hey guys,

Back in EE3, you guys helped me display event meta data in the confirmation email.

I used this to send special instructions regarding the venue to the attendees. such as parking information or directions to the classroom.

Well, now I have switched over to EE4 and it seems like I cannot add the meta data to the confirmation email using the shortcode. Is there another way to accomplish this?

Hi Chris,

You can share that information with the attendees/registrants but the method is slightly different.

The message system in Event Espresso lets you create custom emails. There are two ways to create the custom emails:

Option 1

Go to the event in the event editor within your WP dashboard and then scroll down to the bottom of the page:

Locate the Registration Approved message type and click on Create custom. Then enter a name in the pop up field for this new template. Here is an example:

Custom Registration Approved – My Event Name

Then save. Then click on edit next to the new template name and you’ll be able to make changes to the custom template and add information. When you are done, be sure to save changes.

Option 2

Go to WP-admin –> Event Espresso –> Messages. Locate the Registration Approved message type. On the right side of the page you’ll see a Custom button. Click on that and then you’ll be brought to the messages editor. Update the name for your custom message type and then make changes to the actual message and save.

Next go to the event in the event editor and scroll down to the end of the page. Locate the Registration Approved message type and switch it from global to the new template that you just created.

Hey Lorenzo, \Thanks for the reply I did see it soon after you posted it.

Perhaps I need to explain further what I’m trying to do.

I have created several custom “Registration Approved” options as we offer several different types of courses.

At this time we host approximately 75-100 events annually. I am hoping that I will not have to create a custom “registration approved” message for each of those.
In EE3 I was able to insert a short code in the confirmation that would pull custom meta data from the event and include it in a “special instructions” area of the confirmation. This information is usually about directions within the venue and the local parking options and are very specific to each event. Our venues are rarely reused and we hold events all over the US.

Is there anyway that you can see for the confirmation email to “call” meta data either from the event information or the venue information to be included in the email?

Hi,

There isn’t an email tag for this which is an over sight in my opinion, so I’ll make a request for one to be added (though I cannot guarantee it will).

I also can’t see a filter that could allow you to insert the data, so I’ll query that in the ticket as well.
