Manually adding attendee is not saving custom fields

Hi

We are having some issues with EE in that when adding an attendee manually via admin it does not save the custom fields that have been filled in for that attendee.

We are currently running EE 3.1.36.4.P and WP 3.8.1. I have tested this on both a dev site with plugins and custom theme and also a clean install with no additional plugins and WP 2014 theme.

Could someone please let me know how we can fix this bug.

Regards

Robbie

Hi Robbie,

I rans some tests on EE 3.1.36.4 and couldnt see any issues when adding attendees manually.

Can you advise what sort of questions are being added and if they are being added to a default group or custom group.

Are all the questions blank after saving or just some of them?

Hi Dean,

It seems that if the question is required, then the answers are being saved. If it’s NOT required, then the answers are NOT being saved. That said, I can add an attendee via Admin without completing ANY fields or questions.

Thanks.

Hi,

Manually adding a user via admin does not use required fields or validation, it is up to the admin to make sure the info is correct.

I tested required and none required questions and saw no issues.

Is it possible to get your login details in order to look into this?

If so, please send them via https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

NOTE: login details need to be Admin level and FTP details are appreciated.

Hi,

Thanks for the login details.

I can see the issue is occurring on your site, but there is no indication as to why.

I tested on several sites, including one running the same WP version as you, but nothing stopped the plugin from working correctly.

The only thing I can think right now is that a plugin or the theme is interfering somehow. Something is definitely changing the look of the admin area, so my first thought is that whatever is causing this (theme?) would be the first thing to check.

Hi Dean

I have done a fair bit of testing and this bug is also occurring on a fresh install with the following setup:

WP 3.8.1
EE 3.1.36.4.P

This is a completely fresh install with the Twenty Fourteen theme activated and no plugins installed, besides EE 3.1.36.4.P.

Could you please send me an email address to send login details to for this new install and you can see that it is still not working even on the latest install.

Regards

Robbie

Hi Dean,

FYI: When you EDIT an attendee registration details, the all custom fields (required/not required) ARE saving.

This is a critical issue. Your help is much appreciated.

BTW: it seems there’s another support forum item with a similar issue that Lorenzo is assisting with. Refer: https://eventespresso.com/topic/registration-form-custom-input-fields/#post-81727

Hi,

Thanks for the logiun details.

The similar forum thread is not releated (front end versus admin area).

I have found the issue, but no fix, I will need to refer this to a developer via a ticket. The issue is that you are using the Admin Only View option when creating the question. With this option disabled it works just fine.

As a temporary workaround, you could save the attendee and then edit them again re-do the answers and save. This appears to work ok.

Hi Dean,

Thanks for the suggestion for the workaround. Any update on the fix?

Cheers.

Hi,

Seeing as how this is somewhat of a minor issue at this point in time. The ticket that Dean created will need to be placed into our development queue before it can be fixed. Tickets that are accepted into the development queue and fixed have to go through the development, alpha, beta, and live release cycle, which could take several months from start to finish.

Sorry. I know that is not the answer you were hoping for, but this process gives us an opportunity to make sure we release as few bugs into the wild as possible. However, we can fast-track the process if a customer is willing to sponsor the development of a new feature or bug-fix.

Hope that helps.
