When I attempt to install my event espresso calendar add-on plugin I get a message that says “File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.”

Hi there,

Which version of Event Espresso are you using?

Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.

I would recommend contacting your hosting provider and have them check into this, you can provide them with the same error message included here.

If post_max_size is smaller than upload_max_filesize you will need to alter the php.ini file set on your server, it is best to have your host do this as they should know the setup of their servers better than anyone.

Hi, please try downloading a new copy of the latest version of Event Espresso 3 from your account page:

https://eventespresso.com/users/seminars2013/#ee3-downloads

Then try uploading again through your Plugins screen in your WP dashboard:

WP-admin –> Plugins –> Add New –> Upload

If it fails again, then there is an issue with the upload settings on your site and your web host will be able to correct it.

If, you are comfortable with an SFTP or an FTP client, then you could manually transfer the files to your site.

1) Login to your WordPress site using Cyberduck, FileZilla, or another plugin

2) Unzip the event-espresso.zip file on your computer

3) Using your SFTP / FTP client, browse to this location:
/wp-content/plugins

4) Then upload the unzipped event-espresso folder to the location above. The upload process may take a couple minutes depending on your connection speed. Allow it to complete. If there are any timeouts or connection issues, then upload the folder again as you’ll need to to fully upload without any errors.

Then you can go to your WP dashboard and then the plugins screen and activate Event Espresso 3.
