Hi. I want to set up confirmation emails to send to people who register for my event. I tried send a test email and I get the following error:

An error has occurred:
The test message was not sent
Messages_Admin_Page – _do_test_send – 1675

Not quite sure what to do from here. Thanks.

Hi John,

Go to the Settings screen for the Messages system. Then turn the messages system off by clicking on the toggle. Then move each message type to the right box to deactivate them and then reverse your steps to reactivate them:

Then try sending a test message again.

Hi Lorenzo,

I followed those steps but I’m still getting the same error message.

Hi,

Does WordPress itself send out regular notifications such as password resets or new user notifications?

Hi Lorenzo,

I got this message when I tried to do a password reset:

The e-mail could not be sent.
Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function.

I have not disabled that function (at least, not that I know of). Is there a way to turn it back on? Thank you.

Hi John,

Thanks for testing that out. That is what we were looking for.

wp_mail() is a native feature of WordPress. WordPress and plugins for WordPress use it to send out email notifications.

Could you follow up with your web host about this?

Hi Lorenzo,

I followed up with the web host and we got the mail function all figured out. Now the website is sending emails (like lost passwords, etc.) However, EE is still having issues sending, I get the same error. Any other thoughts?

Thanks!

Oh, and I did try refreshing the messaging system in the manner you suggested at first. Still not working. Thanks!

Hi,

Is there anything in spam or junk mail?

It was a short note to let you know to try testing the messages system again?

I’ve also hidden your email as our support forums are semi-public.

Nothing in spam. Very strange. Either way, I just tried sending a test email and I go the same error again.

I sent another test email and also sent an email from my email account.
