EE4: Sold out events not shown in Upcoming list (admin view)

I’ve mentioned this before in another thread but it wasn’t resolved.

In admin view, when filtering ‘upcoming’ events I am not shown any ‘sold out’ events so therefore I am not actually viewing the complete list of upcoming events.

Is this supposed to be this way or is there an error? It doesn’t seem like it should be like that.

Hello,

That sounds like it is expected. If an event is sold out because it has already passed, then it would not appear under upcoming.

Filter by upcoming:

Upcoming event (e.g. September 1st) would appear.

Past event that is sold out (e.g. August 1st) would not appear.

Did I misunderstand your question?

Hi Lorenzo, I am no talking about past events. I am talking about events that have yet to take place.

We have an event this weekend, it’s sold out as most of our events are, but it does not show in the upcoming events list in the back-end.

This means we cannot get an admin overview of our upcoming events to management. We have to switch to month view, which doesn’t really work when we are near the end of any month.

I don’t think this is how it’s supposed to be.

Right, that does make sense. I wasn’t thinking clearly when I replied and we have an enhancement ticket to make additional statuses available in the dropdown menu.

The dropdown filter has these options (http://cl.ly/image/1y0e0j2s0U1Z):

Active
Upcoming
Expired
Inactive

These are the status labels (http://cl.ly/image/2y3A0f1Y0y1g):

Sold Out
Active
Upcoming
Postponed
Cancelled
Expired
Inactive

Once the enhancement ticket has been added, then the additional statuses above will appear in the dropdown menu on the events overview page.

Great, thanks.

But how do I make that happen?

Did I misunderstand what you are telling me here? Is it not possible to show sold out events in the upcoming events filter?

Not currently. However will be adding additional filters there and one of them will be for a status of sold out:

Can you please just ensure that sold out events show up in upcoming. That’s the most important thing. Otherwise it’s not a true list of upcoming events.

Sure, I’ll add that to the ticket as well. We’ll update this support post once it is available.

Lorenzo, there is something drastically wrong with the filtering on the back-end on my site. I can’t select the month ‘september 2015’ and therefore cannot view any of my events for this month unless I select ‘upcoming’, which we have already established does not display anything sold out (quite a few of our events). Additionally, I see a duplicate of every other month on the drop down selection.
Selecting the ‘active’ filter returns zero events.

I think it would be helpful if perhaps you took a look at my admin page? I think something is really messed up.

Hi mpurse,

Can you confirm if this is still an issue please?

Hi Tony,

Not anymore. It’s fine now since yesterday. But I don’t know why, we didn’t update anything.

Was it a date issue – might it happen on the last day of every month??

It’s a known issue that we have an open ticket for but it’s caused by a bug within PHP that happens with dates on the 31st of the month. There are several reports of this within PHP’s Bug tracker, for example:

https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=22486

On the 31st of August we say + 1 month to strtotime() which actually passes back 31st of September which doesn’t exist and parses to the 1st of October.

It causes issues when trying to display month intervals.

The good news (kind of) is it fixes itself as long as the date is no longer the 31st.

OK, that makes sense. We can work with that until there is a fix. Thanks.

Please keep this ticket up so that I can get updates about the ‘upcoming’ and ‘sold out’ filters discussed above.

Merci.
