EE3 or EE4? (3)

Was well on my way to implementing EE3 before getting sidetracked for almost 4 months…and now I see EE4 on the landscape. I am/was using the EE3 calendar, reccuring dates, and multiple event registration add-ons. One big issue with EE3 was combining multiple dates into a single event (1 ten week class) which is now in EE4: awesome! Just talked to our registrar and being able to register for multiple classes in a single checkout is critical.

Therefore, I am at a critical juncture: EE3 or EE4? Could you provide any sort of time frame for MER? I would be willing to impose the lack of reccuring events, but MER is critical to the decision making process.

Are we looking at weeks, months, a year? I don’t even need a time frame if someone says “you better stick with EE3 for now….”

Hi Mark,

We unfortunately can’t provide a timescale. I know that’s unhelpful, but we are trying to roll the new EE4 addons out as quickly as possible, while not being held to a deadline we may not be able to meet.

The EE4 calendar is already out, but no word yet on MER. I believe it is higher priority than REM though.

Right now I would say stay with EE3, you can also migrate your data to EE4 at a later date should you wish to upgrade.

I would also suggest checking out the EE4 demo if you haven’t already – http://demoee.org

Hey Dean,

Thanks for the feedback; I’ll be moving forward with EE3. I went ahead and installed EE4 core on my dev server and “nice work y’all!” Looking forward to my dependencies migrating to EE4 as the EE3 method to multiple dates for one event is a tad cumbersome….
