EE3 – Moving events/attendees between wordpress installations

I’ve been developing a new version of a website for a client, installing the new version within a subfolder. I was using EE3 3.1.36.4.P and want to export all the events/attendees to the new website. I only found a download link to the EE3 3.1.36.6.P, and I’ve been unable to import any csv to the new website.

How can I move the events and attendees from the old to the new website?

Thank you

Hi there,

You can move the events and attendees from the old to the new by migrating the database. We recommend using the WPMigrateDB plugin or its Pro version.

If you know how to use phpMyadmin, you can also export the tables that have _events_ in their name, then import those tables onto the new site.

Hi,

I exported the tables that have _events_ in their name through phpMyadmin from the old site to the new one and it did not work. If i look onto the Event Overview of the new website there are no records found, but if I filter to ALL (active/inactive) filter status I see a bunch of events that weren’t there before with weird values. I have the feeling that the EE3 3.1.36.4.P and EE3 3.1.36.6.P databases don’t have the same format.

Could you provide me a download link to the EE3 3.1.36.4.P version and try to do the same operation? Also, do you suggest any other solution?

Thanks

Hi,

We don’t have a download link for older versions, but I’ll email you a copy to the email address we have on file for you.

Normally with a database migration, the entire database is moved, so it sounds like some of the data hasn’t transferred for some reason. We do use some default WP tables such as wp_options, but I assume you transferred those as well?

Hi there,

It turns out that EE3 3.1.36.4.P and EE3 3.1.36.6. do share the same database format. Do you database prefixes match exactly on the old site/new site?

Hi,

I installed the old version you sent me (EE3 3.1.36.4.P) to the new website and imported the _events_ tables from the old website to the new one and had to change their prefixes to match them with the new website prefixes database, and it worked.

Thank you!

Hi, is this issue now resolved? If so, could you change the status to resolved?

Thanks

Lorenzo
