I’m getting a 404-not found error when attempting to log in. Is anyone else experiencing difficulties with this version of the app?

Hi Blake, do you see the same thing when testing on an iPhone?

If it also doesn’t work, then try temporarily deactivating all plugins and then reactivating Event Espresso along with its add-ons.

Then browse to WP-admin –> Settings –> Permalinks. This last step will refresh your permalinks.

Could you then retest with the mobile apps (Event Espresso HD)?

Be sure to reactivate your other plugins after testing.

Lorenzo

Yes I see the same thing happening when I test on an iPhone. Strangely we had to move the entire site to a different domain as of a couple hours ago. Do I need to request to have the support license key moved to the new domain.

I am using Event Espresso HD.

Hi Blake,

Do you have the Espresso JSON API Add-on installed and activated?

I don’t think so. I’m running EE4 is the JSON API compatible with 4?

No the JSON API is not compatible with EE4.

The JSON API and the EE3 Ticket Scanning apps are compatible with EE3. The app should still allow you to log in when using EE4 but no events will be displayed and it can not be used to scan EE4 tickets.

We do not currently have a full EE4 app integration that works the same way as EE3.

Do you currently have the EE4 Ticket Scanning Add-on active?

I do not have ticket the scanning add on active. I don’t see using the scanning function. Would you be able to “check in” guests without scanning in the app?

Yes you can manually check in registrants.

If you go to Event Espresso -> Registrations.

On the top go to the ‘Event Check-in’ tab.

Select your event in the dropdown and click filter – http://take.ms/uXLKz

If you click on the X you will check the attendee in and the icon will change – http://take.ms/kHjTV

You can click again to checkout the registrant or click again to check in (again)

Yes, I know how to go about it that way but that’s quite an involved process to check someone in. Is there a way in the ticket scanning add on to manually mark registrants as checked in without having to scan a ticket?

You can manually input the codes used in the bardcodes into the field used for the scanner add-on.

For example the default tickets look like this – http://take.ms/7TQi5

You can input that code into the scanning field like this – http://take.ms/Nb5E3

Click go and EE will pull in the attendee for that ticket – http://take.ms/iVbZe

It is possible to use an app and your mobile devices camera to scan the tickets and pass the information to the input field for the barcode scanner, this isn’t a full app integration but allows for similar functionality to using a handheld scanner on your mobile/tablet.

The app must either emulate a keyboard and allow you to scan barcodes, or simply scan barcodes and allow you to pass the value to an input field in your browser.

I am an Android user so can not test iOS app’s although I did find an app for Android that could do just that, here is a post explaining further:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/how-to-use-a-mobile-device-to-scan-ee4-tickets/

I have created a ticket for a member of the team using an iPhone to investigate iOS apps to find one that will allow similar functionality.

So far these are the two closest alternatives I have found if you would like to test this:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/browscan-barcode-scanner/id564055630?mt=8
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/barcode-scan-to-web/id616072861?mt=8

Or we will will update the above wiki post with further information as we test the apps.

Thanks for the work around. I will try manually adding the barcode ID’s. I guess the answer is NO, there is not a functioning check in app. Hmm this is going to get more difficult than I anticipated. Thanks again

Well the apps mentioned above can be used to check-in (and out) attendees so there is a functioning check in app, however currently there is no dedicated check in app specifically for EE4.

Just let us know if you have any further questions.

Have a great day 🙂
