Editing attendee details with seating chart add-on

Hi – I had a customer purchase a ticket and reserve a seat but she used the wrong e-mail address. I went in to edit the attendee data and updated the email address which then removed the assigned seat number from the ticket. Very similar issue to the one listed here: https://eventespresso.com/topic/editing-attendee-details/

I need to resend the ticket with the seat number, is there any work-around to add this data manually??

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul,

I looked into this and found out what happens is a ticket_type value gets added when the attendee details are updated on the back end if it’s a seating chart ticket. What’s interesting is the Seating assignment value is still in the attendee record, and you can display that value on the ticket by adding the [seatingchart_tag] shortcode to your ticket template. Then when you resend the email that includes the ticket link, it will include the Seating assignment on the ticket.

If you’re not familiar with how to add a shortcode to the ticket template, we have some basic documentation:

https://eventespresso.com/wiki/ticketing-add-on/#editing

and a how to guide here:

Hi Paul,

I just happened to click into your post to see what response you got. I’ve had the same thing happen to me. Although the seating assignment value is still in the attendee record, as Josh mentioned, you need to beware. When that happened to me somehow the seats became available again for other people to purchase. Thank goodness the original purchasers asked to change their seats or I would have had a very embarrassing situation on my hands.

Hi Susan,

Thanks for your comments…I’ve just checked and (thankfully) the seat is still showing as booked. We’ve had a number of “challenges” with our seat bookings so are now manually reconciling seat bookings against our payment gateway reporting. This has thrown up some issues which to date we have been able to address manually.

Hi Josh,

thanks for your comments, I’m a bit reluctant to update the ticket with my live events so will create a new ticket template and test for an upcoming event.
