We are still having the issue explained in https://eventespresso.com/topic/ee4-error-on-front-end-users-are-having-issues-registering/ after upgrading the system multiple times. This has been an issue we have been trying to resolve for over a month. Please help us put this issue to rest.

Thanks

Hi Susan, could you change the following question:

Does your child have allergies or medical concerns of which we should be aware?

…to HTML textarea?

Here is an example of what the option looks like:

The image above is from the question editor within your WP dashboard.

Please outline the exact steps to reproduce the issue and we can investigate.

Hi Lorenzo,

I changed the field you mentioned to an HTML textarea.

Josh – The process is putting through a registration in the frontend or manually through the backend. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I was never able to reproduce the error myself, but we have had many clients over the last few months experience the issue. Also the administrative staff seem to run into the issue as well.

Hi Susan, sporadic reports are challenging as we aren’t sure what is causing it. Could you ask your staff members if they have any information such as a particular event or a web browser that they saw this issue in?

That would be helpful for starting troubleshooting.

Hi Lorenzo,

The issue happens in all web browsers according to the client. They reported the following 2 days ago:

We’re receiving phone calls again today from clients who are unable to register through EE on our website.

I process these registrations through the back end and it typically takes 2-3 attempts before the registration goes through.

The two classes that were reporting errors were July 16th Baby sitters in Burlington and July 7th Baysitters in Oakville (now sold out).

Hi Susan, a member reported a similar issue earlier this year with having issues with registrations in the WP dashboard with Host Papa.

Who are you using as your hosting provider?

Apparently the situation is slightly better, but still not working all the time? Any ideas guys… we need this resolved ASAP!

We also just upgraded to 4.7.7 to see if that will help permanently resolve the issues we are experiencing. Any ideas??????

Hi there,

Can you check to see if any of the other WordPress plugins activated on the site that write to and remove transients from the options table?

The issue you’re seeing could be caused by the deletion of the transient that handles the registration, before the registration form is submitted. This can happen randomly if garbage collection is run by a) caching or b) another plugin is inadvertently deleting EE transients during its garbage collection process.

How would I be able to determine this?

Here’s an article that explains a bit about transients:

http://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-manage-and-delete-transients-in-wordpress/

We also recommend installing this plugin to check for transients:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/transients-manager/

Once you identify which plugins are adding and deleting transients, you can narrow things down by deactivating them, then monitor the site to see if the registration issues persist. Then, if all is well, you can try re-activating them one by one.

Thanks for the info Josh. I’ll give it a try.

Hi Josh,

Can you take a look at the attached transient screenshots to see if anything seems abnormal?

Do you recommend trying to disable iThemes security for a bit? Has anyone else reported problems using iThemes security with EE4?

I can recommend contacting iThemes security support and ask them if there’s any chance that their plugin might be deleting transients that have option_names that look like this:

_transient_ee_ssn_66bcb970e4557ab4b28683ca8970759f
_transient_timeout_ee_ssn_66bcb970e4557ab4b28683ca8970759f
