Cannot Add / Edit Events or Venues

This is a new issue we are able to recreate. When logged in as an admin user, clicking on the edit/add button for Event Overview or Venues breaks the session. The user is redirected to the home page and cannot get back in to wp-admin until the cache is cleared.

This issue is reproduceable. I have created a stand alone installation for this issue and it still occurs

redacted – Event Espresso support team – LOC

Environment:
-EE Version: 3.1.37.0.P
-WP Version: 4.1.1

FTP login available for troubleshooting.

This is a stock install with EE added. No other plugins

Hi Lee, our support forums are semi-public so I’ve removed those credentials.

Please go ahead and deactivate them.

What kind of caching solution are you using? Is this through your web host or is it via a plugin like W3 Total Cache?

There is no caching in place (plugin, Cloudflare or otherwise). The installation above is a clean install of WP with no third party plugins other than EE3

Checking the Apache configuration, the cache and disk cache modules are not installed, so no apache level caching is taking place either.

Thanks!

Hi, I saw your reference to cache and thought you were referring to a caching plugin but it appears you meant the local browser cache.

Could you try refreshing the key and salt values in your wp-config.php file?

https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/

Note that this will force-logout any users that may be logged into your site.

Also, was Event Espresso 3 manually installed via SFTP or FTP or was it installed through the WP dashboard?

Salts have been refreshed, no difference.
EE3 was installed via the dashboard

Hi, this sounds like a fairly new install of WP and the other possible cause is a conflict with the theme in use. Do you see the same thing with a default WP theme such as Twenty Twelve or Twenty Fourteen?

We are using the default theme in 4.1.1 (Twenty Fifteen)
I’ve tried switching to Twenty fourteen and the same issue occurs.

I should add, this installation of WordPress with EE was created strictly for troubleshooting purposes. it isn’t a production site.

Hi,

Could you please create a temporary WordPress admin login so we can take a closer look at this issue?

Please share that temporary login through the secure link below:

https://eventespresso.com/send-login-details/

To prevent delays in troubleshooting, be sure to double check your information on the form before submitting.

The submit button for the form appears at the end of the form.

Again, please ensure that the temporary login works.

Thank you.

Can you double check the FTP credentials and resubmit them on the secure form if that’s possible? The FTP client says “The user name or password was not accepted by the server.

The site may be inaccessible or your password may be incorrect. Please double-check your login settings.”

Hi there,

I was able to FTP in and didn’t see anything out of order, then I checked the WP admin and could add an event. Can you confirm?
