Can registrant register themselves and up to 20 others inputting all names?

Using WP 3.9.1 and a fresh install of Event Espresso 3.1.36.4 L and no add-ons. I am searching around for an event plug-in that will allow me to do the registration tasks below.

1. Create an event and get a shortlink to the event to place on an “Information and Registration” page that they can click on to select that event to register in.

2. Create an event where the registrant can choose how many others (up to 20) they are registering for and then be prompted to input everyone’s names.

3. In an event is there a means (without having to create a separate event) for the registrant to indicate they are also attending breakfast and lunch so we can track those numbers (checkboxes? Questions?)

I’ve spent several hours with a behind the scenes setup at my doodling site http://www.dodropby.com but haven’t found the answers to thee above questions directly in the material I’ve read so far. I’m not asking someone to write out all the steps for me, just point me in the right direction and assure me they can be accomplished. If Event Espresso can do those tasks I am a customer for sure. 🙂

Thanks for any assistance.

Hi Alexander,

These answers are for EE3. Should you want to check out EE4, we have a demo site available – http://demoee.org where you can play around with the plugin.

1. Create an event and get a shortlink to the event to place on an “Information and Registration” page that they can click on to select that event to register in.

Yes. By default the events will be listed on a specific page, but we have numerous shortcodes that can be used to add a single or list of events to posts and pages.

2. Create an event where the registrant can choose how many others (up to 20) they are registering for and then be prompted to input everyone’s names.

Yes, sort of. You can allow users to group book, and either have no information for the additional people (so one person buys 20 tickets) or they provide as a minimum the first and last names and email for each attendee.

If you don’t need the additional attendees set up in the system, then you could request no info and then use a question to gather the names.

3. In an event is there a means (without having to create a separate event) for the registrant to indicate they are also attending breakfast and lunch so we can track those numbers (checkboxes? Questions?)

Yes, by using Questions. We also have a beta addon available (it’s free) called Price modifier which can use questions to modify the price (does not work with Multiple Event Registration addon).

I hope that answers everything, but if you have any more questions or need clarification, please let me know.

Hi Dean, thank you so much for the reply here. Got it. I think EE3 will do the “registrant + 20 with names” without using ‘questions’, although the breakfast and lunch addition will require questions I see and that will require a paid license.

The biggie was having the one registrant register up to 20 people (in a group), pay for all and be prompted for first and last names for the twenty others. That’s all we need from them. Now I just have to figure out how to set it up to prompt for those names. Don’t seem to see that option yet. I’ll keep reading and playing. Got a clue where to look that up?

🙂

Hi there Alex,

You can do this in Event Espresso 3.

Set Event Options to this: http://cl.ly/image/1Z300M3F0R1a

Then the registration will appear like this:

http://cl.ly/image/402F0V223p2z

The primary registrant will then be able to toggle the option for additional registrants and enter their information.

Hmmm … I don’t seem to have the “Additional Attendee Registration Info” option in the “Event Options”. Mine looks like this … http://bit.ly/QPZBzn. What am I missing?

My screenshots were from Event Espresso 3, not the lite version.

I suspected something like that. Is Event Espresso 3 what I get when I register for a personal license? I had planned to do that immediately anyway. This appears to be a great plug-in.

BTW, can I do all these same things in 4? Now would be the time for me to make that choice. Registration is not a problem.

Hi Alex,

If you purchase Event Espresso 3, then you’ll also receive Event Espresso 4.

Both will allow a registrant to add information for additional registrants/attendees

Cheers
