Dear Support,

Is there a way on EE4 to allow the attendees to book extra hotel nights?
Ideally all I would like to do, is having a form that basis the number of available extra days, it does the sum and add them all up.

Any thoughts or help is highly appreciated.

Regards

Andy

Hi Andy,

Have you considered using a private event to handle those additions?

Hi Lorenzo,

We are trying to move away from using third parties handlers, although as i was playing around with the system and I might have figured it out, just for your info, do you think this may work in conjunction with the purchase of multiple events? see following link http://ifasic.com/vzw/conference-events/athens-2016-hotel-extra-nights/

I would appreciate your comments about my possible solution

thanks

Andy

Hi Andy,

It looks like that event has been removed or have you recently changes the events slug?

If so the permalinks will need to be flushed, simply go to Settings -> Permalinks, make no changes and just hit save.

Hi Tony

Sorry about that, the link is now this one http://ifasic.com/vzw/conference-events/athens-2016-hotel/

That should work fine.

Each event will manage its own registration limits and for the hotel reservations are you using the ticket limits?

If you refer to the number of tickets that can be purchased at one time yes, does it need to be for the hotel case the same number of the allowed hotel nights? example tickets limit 6 – extra hotel nights allowed 6

I’m not exactly sure what you mean.

I’m referring to the amount of available spaces within the hotel, as in the amount of people the hotel can accommodate in total.

You have the max amount of tickets set to 6, as its 1 ticket per night correct?

But do you not need to manage the available rooms remaining?

So if you have 20 rooms total you you’ll need to set a limit of 20 on the tickets so that the ticket sells out once 20 users have purchased that night?

The above may not event apply, I can’t tell from your events. I just wanted to highlight it just in case.

Valid point and thank you for highlighting it for me, not all our attendee will be booking extra nights.

When setting up the hotel event, on the “event registration option” Tab under active status > there is: Maximum number of tickets allowed per order for this event. I have set this one to 6 which is exactly the same of the total extra nights allowed to be purchased per person.

As per the actual ticket limit, I have not set any since I do not know exactly how many people will require extra nights at the hotel, therefore I assume it will be unlimited, correct?

Then that should work fine.

Yes leaving the ticket limits blank will set them as unlimited.

As mentioned I can’t see any issues with this setup, I’ll ask if another member of the support team can take a look when they can (I’m in the UK so I’m usually online before the rest of the team, so it may take a little)

Hi Andy,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

We’ve been discussing this and can’t see any issues with the current setup, it should work fine.

I noticed you’ve now changed it slightly (same principle just without the hotel) but I just wanted to mention that I really like how you’ve used the EE4 Grid View Template as your main event list here, its simple but effective 🙂

Please do let us know if you run into any problems.

Hi Tony,

Thank you for the compliments, I appreciate them.

The hotel that we are going to use has it’s own system which we can personalise, we are aiming to direct each attendee to the hotel page after the purchasing of the conference ticket, from the thank you page.

On that note, it is possible to personalise the thank you page in such way to have a button link to the hotel?

Regards

Andy

Yes, there is multiple hooks within the thank you page that can be used for this.

Where about would you like the button to show?

Don’t know it yet, I haven’t got that far yet, but if it is as easy as I think that it wont be a problem.

Thank you for your assistance

You’re most welcome, Andy.

As a rough guide, take a look at the following hooks:

AHEE__thank_you_page_overview_template__top
AHEE__thank_you_page_overview_template__content
AHEE__thank_you_page_overview_template__bottom

The can be used to output details within the thank you page, but there are others if needed (for example a specific template loads if the user selects Invoice, which can be altered to include further details), just let us know if you need any further details.
