A few technical and functionality questions prior to buying.

Before I make the plunge into buying the plugin I want to know if the app will give me the functionality I want/need;

Firstly, I run a sports event that is open to solos, teams of 2, 3, 4-5 & 6-8.

When someone registers they are either a solo runner or a team manager. If a team, they register all their team or have to provide TBA for team members they don’t know yet.

I will need some additional fields to collect data such as t-shirt size, gender, team name.

Also some runners can get a discount for taking the charity option, therefore for all runners the cost is £45 per person, but for those fundraising it is £25. Therefore I need the option for some team members to take this option so in essence you may have a team of 8 made up to four full paying members and 4 fundraisers. But they must all have the same team name.

I use PayPal standard, but can also offer a book now pay by a set date option.

Team captains and soloists must be able to login and edit team details and their team members details.

If it can handle all this then I will safely purchase.

I have trialled the EE4, but not delved too much, but set up tickets per team size and think I need to set up tickets for price bracket (full or fundraising) with the simple option of buying 1-8, but also adding the functionality of deciding which price per team member.

One final question, how do I switch the currency from $ to £?

Hi Danny, did you demo Event Espresso 4 on our demoe site?

If so, could you share a link to the event that you created?

http://demoee.org/hope24/ But only added ticket prices, not full event.

Thanks. That was helpful and I now understand what you are trying to setup.

Here is feedback on your questions:

Event Espresso needs at least a name and an email to complete a registration. A team captain could start a registration by entering their own information and then it could be edited at a later time.

T-shirt size and other questions that are related to the attendees/registrants could be created via a custom question group. Then the question group could be enabled through the event editor.

The invoice payment method or check payment method could be used to reserve a team registration and then they could pay at a later date. If they wanted to use PayPal, then they would need to pay during their registration.

Currency is set by the country that is enabled for the organization. For example, if you set your location for a country in Europe that uses Euros, then your currency will be switched to Euros automatically.

With this new information in mind, did you have any additional questions about Event Espresso 4?

I read on an earlier forum about different pricings for different members of a team, but guess I can overcome this by someone selecting 4 full price and 4 fundraiser tickets. If so, when they are adding the subsequent ticket details will they be able to assign the person to the ticket type?

Secondly, if someone selects 6 tickets, can they edit their submission and increase the number later?

Thirdly, I added a custom field called Team Name for the primary registrant. Is there a way to get this field to auto fill for all other tickets that person buys? So on my registered entrees list, all those registered for a team by a manager have that field, this is for generating the race numbers and chip timing datasets.

Finally, does the system create users from those buying tickets and their attendees or does this require a plugin?

I am sure I may have more questions in time, as I want to ensure I get it right for the needs of my event.

Hi Danny, tickets are assigned to attendees/registrants in the order that they are purchased. For example, 3 tickets (pricing options) would mean that there are 3 registrants.

A primary registrant would not be able to change the size of their team after registering. Their registration would need to be canceled and a new one created.

There is an auto-fill option for the primary registrant. However, it cannot currently copy a specific field automatically.

You can have Event Espresso create user accounts after registration checkout by using the WP User Integration. Note that it currently creates accounts for the primary registrant.

Lorenzo,

This helps, but just a clarification really.

There is no way for a field, i.e. Team Name to be assigned to all tickets automatically if the primary registrant has filled a field in? Is this something they will have to complete for every team member?

Secondly, if they have already paid, then want another ticket, can the primary registrant simply buy another? Or can I edit their ticket list to add another or is the only option to cancel and re-register? How would this work if they have already paid? Would it not be a useful addition to the plugin? As there must be other developers or event organisers that would like a primary registrant to add another ticket at a later date?

Regards

Hi Danny, there isn’t an autofill option for a specific field.

Also registrants can’t currently be added or removed from a registration.

For example, if you had 4 registrants in a registration and you needed two more, then the original registration would need to be cancelled and a new one created for the 6 registrants (4 existing and two new).
