Hello. I wanted to say that I’ve purchased Event Espresso twice now for two different organizations and have had great success with the purchases. Outside of photography, I also build small websites with WordPress as the CMS. I built two websites for two different martial arts organizations who host yearly seminars and tournaments. The plug in has provided a way for attendees to sign up online from both Canada and the United States with ease, and also allowed the organizations to easily manage payments, attendee lists, and many other aspects of the events. Thanks to Seth for creating such a great plug in, and for your constant support! – James Zedd

Frequently asked questions about the Stripe payment gateway

Is a WordPress website required?
Event Espresso and the Stripe payment gateway extension are both plugins for WordPress so you’ll need a website running WordPress to use them. If you don’t currently have a website, then check out Event Smart where you can get an events registration and ticketing website with Stripe and receive event registrations from your attendees.

Does my WordPress website need to meet any requirements to use Stripe?
The PHP mbstring extension, PHP json_decode function, and PHP curl_init function are needed. Your web host (WordPress hosting provider) can help you with these requirements.

How can I set up a recurring payment, payment plan, or a subscription through Stripe?
Recurring payments, payment plans, or subscriptions are not currently supported in the Stripe payment gateway. When an attendee pays for their event registration with Stripe, they pay up front so, you receive your funds right away.

When I refund a payment, does it also refund through Stripe.com?
Refunds in Event Espresso 4 are currently a two-step process. First, apply the refund through the transaction details screen of Event Espresso in your WP-admin (WP dashboard). Then log in to your Stripe merchant account and process the refund.

Is an SSL certificate needed for Stripe?
A dedicated SSL certificate is recommended if you are accepting payments on your website.

Do I need to be PCI compliant?
Compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) is required if you are processing, storing, or transmitting credit card data. Event Espresso helps you by using Stripe Checkout for processing payments through Stripe and, we recommend using a dedicated SSL certificate on your website.
